WATCH ME GROW: Yuri at 43 Weeks (10 Months)

On the Sunday afternoon a week before the Krewe des Chiens parade, Mom and I went to a fund raiser for Lafayette animal aid at Camp BowWow, my favorite doggie day care place.  Our friendly photographer Ms. Lisa was there, taking pictures of anyone who donated to any of the animal aid groups.  Mom gave a donation, and Ms. Lisa took our picture.  It was a beautiful February afternoon in south Louisiana.  We had a good time--you can see that we're both smiling!

WATCH ME GROW: Yuri at 44 Weeks (10 Months)

This little girl wanted to pet me. Mom let her hold my leash, too.
Waiting for the parade to begin.
Here I am with my friends Torren and Charm and their moms.
Torren and I are getting to know each other.
Charm and I look like twins.  Charm's a girl.  She's 3 years old.
Here I am walking in the parade!
It's MARDI GRAS in Lafayette!  The end of February 2010--I'm 10 months old!    In South Louisiana we can make a party out of anything, anytime, but our best parties are at Mardi Gras.  I'm a member of the Krewe des Chiens--that's our doggie krewe here in Lafayette.  We have our own parade, and here we are walking in it with my friends from Baton Rouge, Torren and Charm.  They're ISSR Shiloh Shepherds too, just like me.  It was great to be with other Shilohs!

WATCH ME GROW: Yuri at 35 Weeks (8 Months)

CHRISTMAS DAY 2010!  I'm 8 months old!  We went outside and played with my ball.  Thanks goodness it has finally cooled off down here.  I love Louisiana in December, when it's nice and cool.  We don't get snow down here, but the cool weather sure is nice.  You can see what a big boy I'm growing up to be!  You can see me standing and sitting in front of my mom.  And you can see me opening my Christmas present from Auntie Carol.  Best part was the wrapping paper!

WATCH ME GROW: Yuri at 28 Weeks (7 Months)

Whoohoo!  Our Christmas pictures!  Me and my mom!!!!  It's the middle of November, and I'm 28 weeks old--almost 7 months.  Time flies!  When my mom came to pick me up at doggie day care, they were taking pictures of all us dogs with Santa.  My mom--Scrooge that she is!--said she wasn't a bit interested in a picture of me with Santa, but she would LOVE a picture of me with her.  So Ms. Lisa, the nice lady photographer, told Mom to sit down on the bench where Santa was, and she took out picture.  Mom loved the pictures so much, she bought two and had them made into Christmas cards.  And she sent them to all her friends.  And posted them on the ISSR Shiloh Friends Forum.  (My mom loves the Shiloh Friends Forum.  She says there are lots of good folks on there.)

WATCH ME GROW: Yuri at 24 Weeks (6 Months)

Here are some silly pictures of me with my Auntie Pat.  She came down from New York to stay with me while my mom went out of town.  She's nice; she plays with me and talks to me.  It's the middle of October now, and I'm almost six months old!  My Mom says I really am a hand full!  I go to doggie day care once or twice a week to play with my friends.  Mom loves it as much as I do--she says a tired dog is a good dog.  Could she be talking about me?  Guess so, 'cause I'm the only dog in this house.  I still like to chew a lot--really, really a lot.  But my teeth are all falling out!  And new ones are coming in!  What's a pup to do????

WATCH ME GROW: Yuri at 20 Weeks (5 Months)

Here I am at almost 5 months old!
It's still hot outside.  Let me in!
I'm getting to be a big boy!
This is my brother Angel, sleeping in front of Mom's computer.
This is my sister Mimi.  She's not very nice to me!
This is my new toy.  I'd rather play with the cats, but they just run!
It's the middle of September now, and I'm 20 weeks old.  Mom says I'm still sleeping a lot, and I can tell you it's still hot down here.  Mom says my ears still go up and down.  The day these pictures were taken, it was an up-ears day.  She was real happy about that! She was so happy that she put my picture on her computer!  Did you notice?  It's in the picture with the cat sleeping in front of it.  That's my brother Angel.  He's a Siberian cat, and so is our sister Mimi (the other one--the Princess).  Angel and Mimi are litter mates, even though they don't look alike.  They're 3 years old, so they were here before me.  I'm the baby of the family!  I wish they'd play with me, but they're not very interested. Mom plays with me, though, and I have lots of toys.  And I have lots of friends at doggie day care, where Mom takes me about once a week.

WATCH ME GROW: Yuri at 17 Weeks (4 Months)

It's the end of August now.  I've been in Louisiana for 2 months.  Mom says I seem to grow a little bit every day!  One of our friends brought me a little green fuzzy hamburger toy--it squeaks!  Mom got me a brown travel bed; you can see me lying on it.  But I'd rather be on the cool floor.  It's still really hot down here!  Oh, one more thing--my mom keeps watching my ears.  I wonder why?  She says they go up and down and up and down.  Wonder what that means????

WATCH ME GROW: Yuri at 14-15 Weeks

These pictures of me were taken in late July and early August 2010.  I weigh 39 pounds now!  So I've almost doubled in size!  I like to go outside, and I like to climb in my mom's fountain in our back yard.  Mom says it's too dirty, though, so she's going to buy me a little swimming pool of my own!  I don't stay outside very long.  It's too hot!  You can see me at our back door, telling Mom I'm ready to go back inside.  Mom says I still sleep an awful lot, and my favorite place to sleep is on the cool tile of our back sunporch.  That's where I eat, too.  You can see my special food bowl that my Auntie Carol sent me from Texas.  And you can see my shiny water bucket.  Mom keeps it clipped to my crate, because I love to dump it over and splash in it!  And you can see the corner of my crate.  Mom says it's as big as the world!  That's where I stay when my mom has to go to work.

WATCH ME GROW: Yuri at 11 Weeks

I've been in my new home for two weeks now.  I'm eleven weeks old!  My mom says it's important for me to meet lots of people, so she's taking me out a little and is inviting lots of people to come to our house to visit me.  This is a carpenter who came to do some work for my mom.  He played with me, too.  He sure was nice.  But I have to tell you, it sure is hot down here in South Louisiana.  Thank goodness my mom's house is air conditioned!  I spend a lot of time sleeping on the cool tile floor.

WATCH ME GROW: My First Ten Weeks

Here I am with my brothers & sister at New Zion.  We're 5 weeks old!
My dad Lucky from New Zion Shilohs
My mom Dora & me and my brothers and sister when we were 9 days old!
My First Day in Lafayette--9 Weeks Old
Been in Lafayette a week--10 Weeks Old
My name is Yuri, and I am an ISSR Shiloh Shepherd from New Zion Shilohs, the kennel of breed founder Tina Barber and her daughter Lisa in Fillmont, New York.  I was born on April 23, 2010.  My mom is Dora and my dad is Lucky.  They're both real deal ISSR Shiloh Shepherds from New Zion.  I'm gonna look just like my dad when I grow up!  When I was 9 weeks old, I got on a big airplane and flew to my new mom and my new home in Lafayette, Louisiana.  My new mom named me Yuri, because  I was born on the Feast Day of Saint George.  Mom didn't want to name me George, so she gave me the Russian name for George--YURI!  Saint George was known as the Dragon Slayer, and my mom says I'm learning to slay a lot of dragons, too--cardboard boxes, empty plastic bottles, most of my toys, bugs and mosquitoes.  You can see pictures of me and my brothers and sisters at New Zion, my dad Lucky, my mom Dora and us kids, and then pictures of just me when I arrived in Lafayette in June 2010.  I was a big boy--even then, I weighed 21 pounds!
